Tsavo East National park is the largest wildlife park in Kenya. Tsavo East covers an area of 13,747 kilometers square made up of scrubland and with the Galana River cutting across the vast savannah. The Tsavo East is notable for its overwhelming sense of space and concentration of wildlife in the marshes and along the Galana River. The Voi River runs close to the main entrance and is a rewarding wildlife game circuit. Lions, Cheetahs, and Leopards commonly spotted with other ungulates coming to the river for a drink. Tsavo East presents a contrasting image with comprising mainly rolling scrubland and plains that are roamed by vast Elephant herds. Dotted with monstrous baobab trees and threaded by the shimmering waters of the Athi-Galana River.

Elephants of the Tsavo eco system are colored a distinctive brick red, a shade of the swirling red dust that they love to wallow and bathe in. Several thousand Elephants call Tsavo home moving between the Tsavo East and Tsavo West and into the adjacent areas in search of food and water. Resident Elephant population also ranges into the adjacent Mkomazi reserve in Tanzania. Elephants are a keystone species in this arid eco system and Tsavo East and west remain one of the key wildlife conservation areas for the continued survival of these species. Another distinctive species found in Tsavo is the Hirola and the fringe eared Oryx. For Bird lovers, theTsavo East is also one of the premier birding locations in Kenya. The mosaic of woodlands, bush and acacia dotted plains form a vast tapestry of habitats for a wide range of noisy and colorful birds. This park is a significant wintering ground for Palearctic and Eurasian migrant species.

- The drive from Nairobi takes approximately 5 Hours
